WUUKY XIX

As summer approaches, it’s nearing the time for WUUKY 2022! “WUUKY” stands for Western Unitarian Universalist Karmic Youth, and it refers to a wonderful weeklong con-like experience for youth ages 14-20 in the Mendocino Woodlands. Basically a con—but also a summer camp!\

Please register! As alluded to earlier, we are so excited to invite the members of our community who have aged out during the pandemic (after Elections con 2020) in addition to our regular age range. We are doing this in order to serve some of our young adults one last time. Providing them with a bridging experience and sense of closure within our community is important to us, especially since such an opportunity has eluded them because of the pandemic.

WUUKY 2022 will be held from Monday July 4th through Saturday July 9th at the Mendocino Woodlands campgrounds (39350 Little Lake Rd Mendocino, California 95460).

Deadlines & Fees:

If youths register by April 30th, they will receive an Early Bird discount for a total registration fee of $240. After April 30th and until Registration closes on June 7th, the fee will increase to $270.

If you register after June 19th, we cannot guarantee a spot for them at WUUKY and you will be placed on a waitlist. If space permits, you will be allowed to attend but the Registration fee will increase to $310 for late fees.

The online registration does not replace the check-in forms. Because WUUKY is more isolated than other events, it is extremely important that you bring the signed check-in forms with you. These are included in the WUUKY Camper Letter (linked in the discussion section of this event and on the YRUUP.org website). You must print and fill this form out before arriving on July 4th. These completed check-in forms are to be physically handed to the registrar at the beginning of the camp.

Payment:

The payment system for WUUKY is different from that of YRUUP conferences. Instead of bringing your checks with you to the event, you will be required to mail them directly to the Council treasurer.

Please write a check for the amount of your registration fees payable to Northern California Unitarian Universalist Camps and Conferences (NCUUCC). NCUUCC is our parent organization and they manage our financial accounts—do not make checks out to YRUUP or we will not be able to accept them.

Be sure to send the check out by June 20th.

Online registration form:

This online registration DOES NOT replace the normal check-in forms (registration information, medical release, covenant) that you physically bring to the con. After completing this online form, you will receive an email from the registrar with the print out check-in forms.

Please mail in your fee by June 20th and bring a completed copy of the check-in forms to the event.

Scholarships:

Scholarships are still available! YRUUP understands that WUUKY is considerably more expensive than a regular conference--and we still want you to attend! Scholarships are a great way for everyone to take part and we are happy to offer them in order to create a larger and more welcoming community. That being said, they are awarded on a need-basis only to those who ask first; we take careful consideration of the number of congoers and the expenses for each event.

Youth are encouraged to fill out a scholarship request form if they need part of the cost of WUUKY subsidized.

If you would like more information about our range of discounted scholarships or reimbursement for supplies or travel expenses, you can send an email to treasurer@yruup.org to get in contact with the treasurers. Fill out the Google Form here to apply for a scholarship for Fall Con 2019.

We want to make YRUUP accessible to all and we are happy to offer scholarships, in order to create a larger, welcoming community that being said, scholarships are given on a need-basis. Please be honest and respectful in your responses.

Get involved:

We are always on the lookout for adult advisers to attend our events so that we can accommodate all of the youth who register. If any adults from your congregations or other UU spaces are interested in advising or would like to learn more, please have them email Gavin Hosler at AdultCo@yruup.org

If you would like to be a YELLer at WUUKY, send an email to CoCoCo@yruup.org with your name and preferred leadership position. For a complete list of YELLer positions, click here.

For any questions or concerns about YRUUP Cons, WUUKY, or YRUUP in general that aren't covered in the 2022 WUUKY Camper Letter, please email us at council@yruup.org for more information.

We are also looking for Karaoke song requests and dance song requests!
